Board of Directors Commitment Pledge
By becoming personally and corporately involved in the Chamber’s issues, programs, and activities, you will ensure your own company’s growth and prosperity while building an even stronger voice for business through the Sealy Chamber of Commerce.
Each member of the Board of Directors is expected to fulfill a three-year term and agree to the following commitments on an annual basis:
Oversight
* Maintain the Chamber in a strong fiscal and strategic position by adopting an annual budget, providing fiscal oversight, and supporting fundraising activities.
* Maintain the confidentiality of all Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings.
* While serving as a member of the Board of Directors, not serve on the Boards of any other chambers that represent part of Austin County.
* Avoid any actions that would put the organization at risk for antitrust violations.
* Disclose any conflicts of interest at the start of the year and throughout the year and take appropriate steps to avoid any appearance of impropriety.
* Ensure that the Chamber’s programs and activities directly support its mission and are focused for success.
* Actively support the Chamber’s programs, policies, and operations, and oversee their implementation.
Participation and Outreach
* Attend and actively participate in regular monthly Board meetings (be absent from no more than three (3) meetings per year) and prepare by reviewing Board materials in advance
* Be present at and participate in the annual Board training and planning retreat. (Mandatory)
* Actively participate on at least one Sealy Chamber committee.
* Represent the Chamber leadership by participating in all major Chamber events (Banquet and Golf Tournament)
* Actively attend at least 50% of all Chamber Sponsored Events, such as Governmental Luncheon, Network Luncheons, Ribbon Cuttings and Business After Hours.
* Actively engage in fundraising for the Chamber through sponsorship of, or solicitation of sponsorship for the Chamber’s annual membership campaign and the Chamber’s major annual events, monthly events, and ticket sales.
* Make individual/corporate financial contributions, as well as contributions of time and expertise.
* Be an active ambassador for the Sealy Chamber by assisting with membership retention and development and personally recruiting/referring at least three (3) new members each fiscal year (January-December).
It takes a dedicated team of Volunteer Leaders to oversee the Governance of the organization.
